Newer Neighborhood With Homes Built Using Green Building Techniques & Within Walking Distance To New Hike & Bike Trail, Golf Course, & YMCA!
Heritage Village is a small neighborhood of around 50 houses located on MLK just east of 183. The community was built in 2003 and was the first SMART housing initiative by the City of Austin. All of the homes were built using green building techniques, and most are rated 3 stars or higher in energy efficiency.
The homes were built by various builders preventing the neighborhood from looking cookie cutter…the neighborhood has a hyde park feel in overall architectural style. Homes range from the mid $100’s up to $200k currently based on sqftage and location in the neighborhood. The homes are generally 3/2’s with 1,000-1500 sqft.
The community is located next to the recently completed southern walnut creek hike & bike trail. This is a 10 ft. wide concrete hike & bike trail that will eventually connect the upper Walnut Creek trails & Manor all the way down to Govalle Park. This trail has become quite popular with cyclists from all around Austin. The neighborhood is also walking distance to the East YMCA and Harvey Penick golf courses. Also, the neighborhood has just completed a butterfly garden/park on 2 lots owned by the city. This is a nice spot for the neighbors to get together and have various events.
