The Woodlands is a neighborhood built by Centex located on MLK (FM 969) east of 183 just past Decker Lane. The initial phase was built in 2007 and Centex is still currently building in the neighborhood. The homes are affordably priced in the low $100’s up to high $100’s for the biggest homes. Sqftage range is from 1200 to around 2500. The neighborhood is also zoned to Manor ISD, with the schools ranking higher on state stats then the AISD schools in the area. The Austin Discover School is also right there, and is available on a lottery basis.
With the 130 toll road establishing itself as a good alternative to I35 for a north/south artery, this area between 183 and 130 on MLK should do well in the future. It’s about a 10 minute drive to downtown from here, a straight shot down MLK. Also, there is easy access to the airport from this community. The homes aren’t very unique, but the neighborhood does provide quality starter homes that are a good alternative to moving out to the suburbs. If convenience to downtown is key The Woodlands could be a good choice.
